The Vision for the Queen Street property was approved by our Board of Trustees in December 2000:

vision for queen street1 - Create a Hub on the Queen Street Site
The site will be the organizational hub of CAMH, linked to a network of community-based satellites. It will be designed to facilitate interaction and collaboration between our client care, research, education and prevention functions.

vision for queen street2 - Design the Hub as an Urban Village
The hub will contain streets, sidewalks, flexible buildings and open spaces that integrate with the neighbourhood. A mix of uses and activities will create a safe, comfortable and welcoming place, replacing the stigma associated with the institution with a real community setting for client care. Related programs, research and educational facilities will be located at the hub to create a health care, education and research village.

3 - Respect the Landscape
The existing landscape will be maintained and improved to create private healing sapces for clients, quiet places of respite for staff, public open spaces that integrate with the community, and attractive public amenities along the streets and sidewalks.
