Public Information Materials

For the past 25 years, CAMH and its founding partners have been creating resources to help clients and their families, professionals and the general public learn more about addiction and mental health issues. These publications, called public information materials (PIMs), offer key information on substance use and mental health problems. (Note: Unless otherwise noted, the first 50 copies of each PIM are available free of charge to Ontario residents.)

There are many reasons why people drink or use drugs. However, issues specific to gay, lesbian and bisexual people's lives can further affect alcohol and substance use. This pamphlet describes some of those issues and offers advice on getting help.

This long-awaited revision of one of the Addiction Research Foundation's bestselling brochures, Is It Safe for My Baby?, gives information about drugs and their relative risk and safety to the baby, both during pregnancy and while breastfeeding. The brochure lists legal and illegal substances, including alcohol, cannabis, herbal remedies, tobacco and other drugs, with recommendations for dealing with the risks these substances present.
