Most people gamble responsibly and without problems. However, for one to four per cent of the population, gambling takes up too much of their money and time, and hurts their family life, employment, finances, well-being and health. People from all age groups, income levels and cultural backgrounds can have a problem with gambling. If you or someone you know has a gambling problem, help is only a phone call away.

Who we are

Our staff are professional therapists with specialized training in the treatment of problem gambling. Our service is a program of the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health and is funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.

Who we serve

Our services are available to anyone in the Toronto area who has concerns about their own or someone else’s gambling. We also offer phone counselling for Ontario residents who are unable to access local services. Educational sessions on problem gambling treatment and prevention are available for professional or community groups.

We offer

  • Free, confidential service
  • Individual and group sessions for gamblers
  • Counselling for family members, with or without the gambler
  • Couple and family counselling
  • Telephone counselling
  • Client-directed goal setting
  • Specialization in the areas of youth, women, seniors, and ethno-cultural communities, as well as those involved with the justice system
  • Gay and Lesbian counsellors on request
  • Referrals to additional services as required.

We focus on

  • Clarifying choices and setting goals
  • Identifying ways to regain control of the situation
  • Dealing with the stresses created by gambling
  • Building new coping skills
