CrossCurrents vol 6 no 4Beginning with the Winter 2002 issue, the Journal of Addiction and Mental Health has a new name -- CrossCurrents.

CrossCurrents is the only magazine exploring issues in addiction and mental health in Canada. Since 1998, it has provided a unique perspective on current mental health and addiction-related issues through professionally written stories, research summaries, news and feature articles.

Along with the name change, the internal layout of the publication has also been redesigned to give it a more open and contemporary look. The renaming and the redesign are a result of a continuing quality improvement process that included a readership survey conducted in February 2002.

The renaming and redesign of the magazine also support further changes that arose from the readership survey. The survey analysis indicated that the majority of our subscribers were comprised of frontline professionals working in the addiction and mental health fields. Readers reported that they particularly appreciated the focus articles and research updates, which they wanted to see expanded in future issues.

As a result of the survey analysis, CrossCurrents has adjusted its focus toward the information needs of frontline health care providers and allied professionals. CrossCurrents will be published quarterly while increasing the length of each issue by four pages. Increasing the number of pages will enable writers to explore themes and topics in more depth.

The name CrossCurrents is intended to signify and highlight the dynamic interrelationship between addiction and mental health. It also reflects the unique capacity of the Centre to address issues pertaining to concurrent addiction and mental health disorders. Articles dealing with concurrent disorders will be prominently featured in future issues.

CrossCurrents will continue to serve its readers with accurate, informative coverage of addiction and mental health issues. For subscription information, please call 416 595-6059 or 1 800 661-1111 outside Toronto. E-mail: marketing@camh.net.
