The CAMH Library provides information and resource materials to CAMH staff and professionals, students and the general public of Ontario.

Most print materials circulate for 4 weeks and can be borrowed in person or through inter-library loan within Canada. The journal collection and reference materials may only be used in the library.


In-Person Services

Circulating materials may be borrowed by any resident of Ontario who has registered in person. Registration requires two pieces of identification, one with a current address. Processing the library card takes approximately one week; the library card is mailed to the borrower.

The CAMH library print resources may be borrowed by any library in Canada. There is a $5.00 charge per book for book loans outside Ontario. There are charges for photocopied material, such as journal articles. Charges depend on delivery mode, location, and other factors. Consult with your local public, university or corporate library to borrow CAMH Library materials.

Reference Service

Main Library, ARF Site: 11:00 am -- 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday

Reference librarians respond to requests in person or by mail, e-mail, or telephone. Librarians provide needed information, assist in the use of the collection, instruct in using the library on-line catalogue, conduct orientation tours and refer to other appropriate services and sources.

-- Training on searching various research databases: MEDLINE, PsycLIT, Current Contents, etc.

ACCS (Addiction Clinical Consultation Service)

The ACCS provides a consultation service for professionals in Ontario dealing with a substance abuse related client issue. Reference Librarians are responsible for answering the ACCS line, triaging the requests to the appropriate on-call consultant, and providing resources to both callers and consultants.
